Atletico Madrid has made an enquiry regarding the potential signing of Manchester United winger Antony. The Brazilian is currently on loan at Real Betis and has shown improved form in La Liga.
Antony, 25, joined Real Betis in the January transfer window, temporarily ending a challenging period at Manchester United following his £81 million move from Ajax in 2022.
Since arriving in Spain, Antony has produced six goals and four assists in 19 appearances for Real Betis, a contrast to his output while with United. He has featured prominently in both La Liga and the Conference League.
His performances include a wonder strike scored recently in the Conference League. Real Betis has expressed a desire to keep Antony beyond his current loan agreement, exploring options for either a permanent transfer or another loan term.
Manchester United are also open to selling Antony but seek a fee of at least £32.4 million to meet Financial Fair Play requirements. The club prefers a permanent exit over a further loan.
However, securing the necessary funds could pose a challenge for Real Betis. According to the Spanish football outlet El Chiringuito TV, Atletico Madrid has emerged as another potential destination for Antony this summer.
The report states that Atletico Madrid has contacted Manchester United to ask about the player. United is reportedly asking for between €40 million and €50 million (£34-42.5m) for Antony.
His performance at Real Betis, combined with a notable work-rate off the ball, is seen as a potential fit for the style of play favored by the Atletico coach.
