Veteran wide receiver Hunter Renfrow has found a new National Football League home after not playing during the 2024 season. The Carolina PANTHERS agreed to terms with the player on a one-year contract Sunday, the team announced.
The agreement comes as teams finalize rosters following the recent NFL Draft. Renfrow last played in the 2023 season for the Las Vegas Raiders.
Renfrow played collegiately at Clemson, located less than three hours from Charlotte, North Carolina. He is also a native of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
His production decreased in the seasons after a Pro Bowl year in 2021, when he recorded 103 receptions for 1,038 yards and nine touchdowns. The Raiders released Renfrow in March 2024.
The addition provides quarterback Bryce Young with another target in the passing game. Young is entering his third NFL season with the PANTHERS.
Carolina also added receivers during the NFL Draft. The team selected Tetairoa McMillan with the eighth pick overall. They also chose tight end Mitchell Evans and wide receiver Jimmy Horn.
Renfrow previously earned recognition for his performances in College Football Playoff national-championship games against Alabama while at Clemson. In the contest concluding the 2016 season, he caught the game-winning touchdown pass.
