The Oklahoma City Thunder established an NBA playoff record for points scored in the first half during Game 2 of their series against the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday.
OKC finished the opening two quarters with 87 points. This total surpassed the prior record of 86 points set by Cleveland in Game 4 of the 2017 Finals against Golden State. The score also matched the most points scored in any half of a playoff contest, first achieved by Milwaukee against Denver in April 1978.
Oklahoma City's offensive performance included shooting 58.8% from the field on 51 attempts. They connected on 43.5% of their shots from beyond the arc (10-for-23) and made 94.4% of their free throws (17-for-18) in the first half.
The Thunder built a lead that reached 35 points during the half, holding an 84-49 advantage late in the second quarter. They entered halftime with an 87-56 lead over the Nuggets.
Ten players contributed points for the Thunder by the break. Six players reached double figures, led by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who scored 18 points and recorded seven assists.
The Nuggets vs Thunder playoff series began with Denver securing a 121-119 victory in Game 1.
