Former two-division champion Alex Pereira indicated he is unhappy with the UFC promotion and is considering ending his fighting career. Pereira posted a message on social media Tuesday, suggesting a dispute with the organization.

Writing on X, Pereira stated he was "disheartened" by recent information he received from the UFC. He added that he has previously thought about retiring from the sport.

"I always answered the UFC’s calls, but if they want to play with me, we can do that," Pereira wrote. "I’ve never spoken poorly of the UFC but with what I’ve just heard I’m disheartened."

The 37-year-old fighter continued, "I’ve already had thoughts of not fighting anymore, and after what was just relayed to me this may be the start."

Pereira's remarks come after he lost his light heavyweight title to Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 313 in March. While an immediate rematch has been discussed, no official announcement regarding his next fight has been made.

Over the past three years, Pereira has become one of the UFC's most prominent fighters. He transitioned to mixed martial arts full-time in 2021 after a decorated career in kickboxing.

He captured the middleweight title at UFC 281 and later moved up in weight to win the light heavyweight championship, holding two titles in different divisions. He was also noted for accepting fights on short notice, stepping into headlining roles for events like UFC 300 and UFC 303.

The specific nature of the disagreement between Pereira and the UFC was not disclosed in his public message. Possible issues could involve contract terms, timing for a return fight, or opponent options.
