The Washington Mystics announced guard Georgia Amoore suffered a right anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury during practice Tuesday.
The team stated Amoore and the organization will review treatment and rehabilitation options. Further updates are expected later.
Amoore, a rookie guard, was recently highlighted by her former college coach.
Kenny Brooks of Kentucky praised Amoore and Dazia Lawrence as they concluded their collegiate eligibility.
Brooks described both players as having been consummate professionals who set an example for younger athletes.
He noted their leadership extended from the court into the locker room.
Brooks indicated their influence would continue through players who learned from them, mentioning Teonni Key, Clara Strack, and Jordan Obi.
“I’ll forever be indebted to Dazia and Georgia for helping create the culture here,” Brooks said. “They knew nothing about Kentucky. They came in here, they embraced it — embraced it in a manner that they were able to teach everyone else how to be a Wildcat.”
Brooks concluded they established a foundation for the future of the program.
