Trea Turner hit a solo home run and added an RBI single as the Philadelphia Phillies defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 7-0 Wednesday night, securing their fourth consecutive series victory.
Turner opened the scoring in the third inning with a solo shot to left field. He was also a central part of a five-run fourth inning that extended the Phillies' lead.
The decisive fourth inning included a safety squeeze bunt from Johan Rojas that scored a run, an RBI single by Turner, and a two-run double from Bryce Harper. The rally chased Rays starter Shane Baz from the game.
Cristopher Sánchez delivered six scoreless innings for the Phillies, allowing just one hit while walking three and striking out five.
Taijuan Walker pitched the final three innings to earn the first save of his Major League career. He surrendered one hit and recorded seven strikeouts.
Bryson Stott added another RBI single in the sixth after Rojas singled and stole second base. Kyle Schwarber singled twice, extending his on-base streak to 42 games.
The Phillies outhit the Rays 11-2. Catcher J.T. Realmuto left the game in the seventh inning with a bruised left foot after fouling a pitch off it.
The win puts Philadelphia at 21-15, a season-best six games over .500. Their 8-3-1 series record leads the National League.
Before the game, manager Rob Thomson noted Turner's consistent hitting, stating, "Trea seems like — knock on wood — he gets at least a base hit every night."
