LSU Baseball is set to play the decisive Game 3 of its series against Texas A&M on Sunday, May 4, at Blue Bell Park. The game will determine the series winner after the teams split a doubleheader on Saturday.
The Tigers dropped the first game of Saturday's twin bill by a score of 3-1. Texas A&M secured the win in a contest where LSU's offense failed to capitalize on scoring chances.
In the second game, LSU secured a tight 2-1 victory. Pitcher Anthony Eyanson tossed a complete game for the Tigers, limiting the Aggies to three hits over nine innings.
The LSU Baseball team scored its two runs in the sixth inning of Game 2, with Ethan Frey hitting an RBI double and Josh Pearson executing a safety squeeze bunt.
Sunday's contest is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. CT.
LSU, ranked No. 2 in the nation, enters the game with a 38-10 overall record and a 15-8 mark in SEC play. Texas A&M holds a 26-20 overall record and is 9-14 in conference action.
The probable starting pitcher for LSU is listed as TBA, but freshman right-hander Casan Evans is expected to take the mound. Texas A&M is scheduled to start left-hander Myles Patton.
Fans can watch the game on SEC Network+ or listen on LSU Sports Radio Network affiliates.
Following his complete game performance on Saturday, Eyanson was praised by his coach.
“Everybody saw tonight that Anthony is one of the best pitchers in the country,” said LSU coach Jay Johnson. “This is a great environment, a hostile environment, but Anthony is a competitor. There was no way I was taking him out of that game. He dominated the pitch count throughout the outing. He’s a great pitcher, but he’s also an elite competitor, and that’s what makes him special.”
