Juan Soto connected for two home runs against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday, marking his second multi-homer game against the club in a week. The performance helped the New York Mets build a lead at Chase Field.
The Mets were ahead 4-0 through the top of the eighth inning during the afternoon contest. Soto’s power display contributed significantly to the early advantage.
Soto’s first home run came off Diamondbacks starter Merrill Kelly. The solo shot traveled 427 feet to right-center field and gave the Mets a 1-0 lead.
After the Mets added two more runs in the seventh inning, Soto struck again. His second home run, an opposite-field drive to left field, came off reliever Jalen Beeks and extended the Mets' lead to 4-0.
This game followed Soto's two-homer effort against the Diamondbacks at Citi Field on May 1. All four of Soto’s home runs in May have come against Arizona pitching.
With his tenth multi-hit game of the season on Wednesday, Soto's batting line stood at .261/.387/.478. He has seven home runs, 16 RBI, 29 runs scored and nine doubles on the season. Juan Soto hit two home runs for the Mets against the Diamondbacks.
