The Dodgers plan to recall right-handed pitcher Landon Knack from Triple-A Oklahoma City before their game Wednesday against the Marlins at loanDepot Park. Knack has joined the team in Miami and is expected to pitch in some capacity during the series finale.
Manager Dave Roberts confirmed Knack would be used in the game, though he did not specify whether he would make a traditional start or follow an opener. The move suggests the team anticipates Knack handling a significant portion of the innings.
Knack last pitched Thursday for Oklahoma City, allowing three runs across 4â…“ innings while striking out eight batters. He threw 74 pitches in that outing.
In three previous major league appearances this season, including two starts, Knack holds a 7.27 ERA over 8â…” innings. He has issued six walks and recorded seven strikeouts. His most recent big league outing was April 15 against the Rockies.
Knack’s performance in Triple-A has been better this season, with a 3.98 ERA through 20.1 innings pitched for the Oklahoma City Comets. He has struck out 19 batters compared to nine walks in those appearances.
The Marlins are scheduled to start right-hander Valente Bellozo in the contest. Bellozo carries a 4.97 ERA and an 0-2 record in his major league starts.
The Dodgers have been active with roster moves recently. On Tuesday, outfielder Teoscar Hernández was placed on the 10-day injured list, prompting the promotion of James Outman from Triple-A Dodgers in Miami. Additionally, pitcher Yoendrys Gomez was designated for assignment, and J.P. Feyereisen was called up.
The game is set for an earlier start time as a getaway day game.
"Landon Knack will pitch tomorrow’s game," Dave Roberts said.
