Stephen Miller, a top official in the Trump administration, publicly criticized the pollster for Fox News during a live interview when asked about President Donald Trump's low approval ratings.

Speaking on the network, Miller responded to anchor John Roberts' questions about recent poll data showing the president "well underwater" on issues like the economy, tariffs, and inflation after his first 100 days in office.

"I don't want to make things awkward for you, John, but it is our opinion that Fox News needs to fire its pollster," Miller stated, adding, "the Fox News pollster has always been wrong about President Trump."

He referenced past polling, saying the network's pollster incorrectly predicted a different outcome in the 2024 presidential election. "We don't acknowledge any of that polling," Miller said.

A recent Fox News poll showed Trump with higher approval on border security and immigration but lower ratings on other domestic issues. Fox News stood by its polling methodology following Miller's comments.

Other surveys have indicated similar challenges for the president early in his second term. A CNN poll placed his approval at 41 percent at the 100-day mark. An NPR/PBS News/Marist poll found nearly half of respondents gave him a failing grade for his first 100 days. Reports citing ABC News/The Washington Post and The New York Times polls also showed majority disapproval ratings.

President Trump has also dismissed these polls as "fake news" and suggested news organizations conducting them should face investigation for election fraud. He included the Fox News pollster in this call.

Miller defended the administration's record, pointing to achievements on immigration and border security.

"I think even you, if we're being honest, were surprised how quickly we went from an open border to a sealed border. That surely ranks not only one of the greatest achievements of this president but any president," Stephen Miller said.
