Officials gathered Monday in Puebla to commemorate the 163rd anniversary of the Batalla de Puebla, a pivotal moment in the nation's history. The day included a large Desfile Cívico Militar Por El Aniversario CLXIII De La Batalla De Puebla, drawing thousands to the streets.

The historical event saw Fuerzas Mexicanas, led by General Ignacio Zaragoza, successfully repel Tropas Francesas despite the French having a Mayor Número De Elementos Y Armamento. This victory is celebrated annually, particularly in Puebla.

The parade began late Monday morning, featuring participants from Gran Cantidad De Militares and numerous Instituciones Académicas. According to the Secretaría De Educación Pública (SEP), the event included representation from 33 Instituciones Educativas across the state.

Around 12 Mil Alumnos from various schools joined the march, including the Benemérito Instituto Normal Del Estado (BINE), the Colegio De Estudios Científicos Y Tecnológicos (CECyTE), and Centros Escolares from areas like Atlixco and Teziutlán. Approximately 3 Mil 400 Militares also participated.

The route covered areas in the Norte Y El Centro De La Capital, allowing residents to view the procession. For those unable to attend in person, the Gobierno Del Estado facilitated viewing via Televisión Abierta and Redes Sociales.

Live transmissions were available across various Plataformas Digitales, including X, Facebook, and YouTube. Governmen Del Estado offered official streams.

Several television channels covered the event. Canal 6 and Televisa provided coverage, along with SICOM Puebla, offering multiple options for viewing the commemoration from home.

President Claudia Sheinbaum presided over the anniversary ceremony. Governor Alejandro Armenta also spoke, referencing the historical context of the French intervention and framing contemporary political dynamics through a similar lens of protecting national interests against foreign influence. The focus remains on safeguarding sovereignty and strengthening national institutions.

The Batalla Del 5 De Mayo stands as a symbol of the country's resolve. The current administration emphasizes sovereignty in areas such as energy, food production, technology, and science.

"The 5 De Mayo reminds us that the present and future of Mexico is to be a free, independent, and sovereign nation," President Sheinbaum stated.
