Veteran Republican strategist Karl Rove recently commented on President Donald Trump’s current standing, noting shifts in public opinion and voter sentiment.
Appearing on Fox News heading into Easter weekend, Rove argued that America was not ready for the chaos he perceived in a second Trump administration. He suggested the president's focus on certain issues had led to a "10-point shift" against him in approval ratings.
Rove expanded on his points in his latest column for The Wall Street Journal, where he wrote that many Americans are exhausted by Trump and a thirst for revenge.
He cited specific actions, such as proposals regarding Greenland or the Gulf of Mexico, as distractions from significant matters like the southern border, which he feels requires more presidential attention. Rove lives in a border state and called the changes there dramatic.
Despite some indicators of falling approval, other data suggests a high level of satisfaction among those who voted for him. A recent poll conducted by the Public Religion Research Institute found that a large majority of Trump voters are satisfied with their decision.
This finding is consistent with an April 14 poll from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, which reported that only a small percentage of Trump voters regretted their vote. A focus group conducted by The New York Times similarly found no remorse among independent voters who supported Trump in November.
