Former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki recently addressed descriptions of media coverage concerning Joe Biden's mental acuity leading up to the 2024 election debate, calling the term "cover-up" dangerous.

During an interview, Psaki stated she holds "complicated feelings" about suggesting the White House or the media deliberately hid information about Biden's readiness for office.

She argued that "cover up" is a loaded phrase often used to suggest a crime, citing examples like Watergate. Psaki emphasized she is not accusing anyone of criminal behavior.

Psaki, who served as Biden's Press Secretary from 2021 until May 2022 when she resigned her position, maintained she never saw the diminished version of Biden that appeared on the debate stage while she worked for him daily in the Oval Office.

She acknowledged that aging can happen quickly but stated she did not witness signs of decline during her tenure.

Asked if colleagues were covering up or in denial, Psaki said she doesn't believe anyone was "part of an active effort to hide what was happening privately."

Speaking on Semafor’s “Mixed Signals” podcast, Psaki suggested the media might have missed stories, particularly concerning private details, but questioned the intent behind their coverage.

The fallout from the presidential debate raised widespread questions about Biden's fitness for a second term and preceded his decision to exit the 2024 race.

Psaki is set to take on a more prominent role as an MSNBC host, anchoring a new program.
