Tensions between India and Pakistan remain high following the April 22 Pahalgam Attack, prompting swift measures from India and reciprocal actions from PAK. The attack killed 26 people. India has moved to implement retaliatory steps across various sectors.

One such measure involves water resources. India has suspended the Indus Waters Treaty with Pakistan. This includes action to cut off water flow to Pakistan from the Baglihar dam on the Chenab water and preparing to reduce flows from the Kishanganga project. Plans are also underway for new Indus projects to add hydropower capacity.

India has also tightened economic restrictions. A trade ban is in effect against Pakistan, and the customs department put on high alert to prevent Pakistan accessing Indian markets through third countries.

Digital measures have also been implemented. India blocks Pakistani celebrities on social media, affecting popular Pakistani artists such as Hania Aamir and Fawad Khan.

Military readiness remains a focus for India. The chief of the Army, Navy, and Air Force have briefed PM MODI on preparedness.

Pakistan has reported ceasefire violations by the Indian Army along the LOC, which India described as prompt and proportionate responses to Pakistani firing.

Pakistan requested the United Nations Security Council hold closed consultations to discuss tensions with India. Pakistan's federal government and military briefed political parties, who vowed a robust response if India resorted to any "misadventure."

Amid these developments, security forces conducted operations in Jammu and Kashmir, including uncovering a busted terror hideout in Poonch. Across India, authorities have taken action against individuals accused of supporting Pakistan, including arrests in Assam. Online abuse targeting the wife of a Pahalgam attack victim has also drawn condemnation from groups like the National Commission for Women. trolling of Pahalgam victim Vinay Narwal's wife is seen as unacceptable.

International actors have offered assistance. Iran's foreign minister visited Pakistan, meeting with leaders. Russia offered to help facilitate a political settlement if both countries desire it.

Rajnath Singh, India's Defense Minister, reaffirmed the nation's resolve. "As a defence minister, it is my responsibility to ensure the security of the country's borders along with my soldiers. It is my responsibility to give a befitting reply to those who dare to attack our country," he stated.
