A fundraiser for the Saratoga County Republican Committee held Thursday at the Fairways of Halfmoon featured U.S. Rep. Elise Stefanik as the keynote speaker. The event also listed Rep. Mike Lawler as a guest.

Outside the venue, approximately 200 protesters gathered along the road. The demonstration was organized by groups including Indivisible ADK/Saratoga, Show Up, and Sons of Liberty.

The groups stated they were protesting because they contend Elise Stefanik has not recently held a town hall meeting to address constituent concerns. Indivisible chapters nationwide advocate for lawmakers to be available to their constituents.

The event, described by the GOP as an "award ceremony," included a VIP reception beginning at 5 p.m., followed by the main program at 6 p.m. Tickets ranged in price, with general admission costing $125 per person and VIP access priced at $350. Sponsorship opportunities were available for up to $5,000.

Protesters cited that Stefanik chose to speak to an audience paying for access instead of holding a public forum for constituents.

The fundraiser also honored Bruce Tanski, a Saratoga County developer, as "Republican Citizen of the Year." Protesters took issue with the honor, noting Tanski's history of legal issues and investigations. Campaign finance records show Tanski has contributed over $163,000 to political candidates over two decades, not including contributions made through business entities or in-kind donations related to the event location.

Speculation continues regarding Stefanik's future political aspirations, including the possibility she will run for New York governor in 2026. This follows a period where she was considered for a role as U.N. ambassador before the White House withdrew her nomination, citing a need for her in Congress.

In contrast, Rep. Mike Lawler from the Hudson Valley's 17th Congressional District recently held a town hall within the last week.
