Severe weather moving through Ouachita Parish has left nearly 5,000 people without power. Entergy outages are affecting customers in West Monroe and surrounding areas after utility poles fell.

Entergy reports the majority of outages are centered around Downtown West Monroe, areas south of the city, Richwood, and the Garden District.

Officials in Lincoln Parish also reported power disruptions impacting almost 800 customers following the same weather system.

Five utility poles are down on North 7th Street near Parkwood in West Monroe, according to the West Monroe Police Department.

Police have diverted all southbound traffic on North 7th Street onto Parkwood. Northbound lanes remain open. Police added that traffic lights on North 7th Street and Cypress Street are not working.

The West Monroe Police Department advised drivers to treat affected intersections as four-way stops. A timeline for restoring power or reopening traffic lanes is not available.
