Sevilla's provincial government board approved the list of recipients for the 2025 Gold Medal of the Province on Tuesday. The distinctions recognize contributions and excellence across various fields.
The awards ceremony is scheduled for May 23 at the Teatro Cartuja Center. The event is part of the nineteenth edition of Día de la Provincia.
Among those named is footballer Fabián Ruiz. A midfielder for Paris Saint Germain and the Selección Española, he is recognized for his career achievements, including his role in the Eurocopa 2024 campaign, while maintaining ties to his Seville roots.
Other honorees include activist Elena Huelva, awarded posthumously for raising awareness about sarcoma of Ewing. The Pueblo Gitano is also recognized for its six centuries of shared history in Spain and Sevilla.
The list also includes entities such as the Coria Club de Fútbol, celebrating over 100 years of history and promoting sports values. Swimmers Marina García Polo and Alisa Ozhogina, who won bronze at the Paris 2024 Olympics, are also among the recipients.
The province government body approved the list unanimously, according to the Diputación de Sevilla website. The full list recognizes a range of individuals and groups.
