Street closures are in effect in downtown Edmond this week as the area prepares for the annual Edmond Arts Festival. The event draws visitors to the city center, necessitating traffic adjustments for public safety.
Multiple streets and alleys downtown are closed starting Thursday, May 1, at 4 a.m. These closures are scheduled to continue through Sunday, May 4, ending at 9 p.m. Motorists should plan for alternate routes around the festival area during this period.
To facilitate access, the City of Edmond is providing a complimentary shuttle service. Guests can park in designated lots on the University of Central Oklahoma campus.
The primary parking location for the shuttle is on the west side of First Street at North University Drive. A free ride transports passengers from this lot directly to the festival entrance area.
The shuttle route ends at the Citylink Bus Stop located outside the Police Station at 100 East First Street. This drop-off point is a short distance from the main festival attractions.
Shuttle buses run on a frequent schedule. Service operates every 15 minutes on Friday and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., and on Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Learn more about the transportation options for the festival weekend.
The Downtown Edmond Arts Festival itself is scheduled to run Friday through Sunday. Festival hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Details regarding the event and closures were released earlier in the week.
City officials advised drivers to remain aware of the temporary changes to traffic flow and use caution navigating the downtown area. Updates on local traffic conditions are available from various news sources.
