SPRINGDALE, Ark. – Severe weather swept through the Springdale area early Saturday morning, leaving behind a path of damage and causing widespread power outages. Residents woke to downed trees and power lines scattered across parts of the city.

Storms carrying heavy rain and high winds moved through Washington County in the predawn hours of April 19, 2025. Reports quickly emerged of significant impact.

A tornado warning had been issued just after 1 a.m. Saturday in neighboring Benton County, raising concerns about rotating storms moving into the area. Local authorities and residents noted damage consistent with powerful straight-line winds or potentially a tornado touchdown.

Power lines and trees were reported down in multiple locations. Damage was particularly visible along Sunset Avenue and Highway 412.

Specific points of impact included downed power lines outside businesses like Crain Buick GMC and near Kubota Tractor/Springdale Tractor Co. Bent and snapped power poles were evident on Highway 412 near Crain Buick GMC. Powerlines and trees were also reported down on South Berrington Road.

The storms significantly disrupted electricity service. Initially, over 500 people were without power across Benton and Washington counties.

The number of customers without power escalated quickly. In the immediate aftermath, nearly 4,000 people in Benton and Washington County without power.

Debris was also seen scattered in roadways, impeding travel in some areas.

Emergency crews began surveying the damage reported in Northwest Arkansas shortly after the storms passed.

Despite the damage to property and infrastructure, no injuries were reported as a result of the severe weather event.
