A pursuit suspect died Friday morning following a 210 Freeway Accident that ended a high-speed police chase in Los Angeles County. The suspect crashed violently after the pursuit came to an end on the eastbound lanes of the freeway.

The pursuit began after Ventura County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of grand theft at a store in Camarillo, where the suspect allegedly fled, according to officials who confirmed the driver crashed and died Friday.

Deputies pursued the driver through Ventura County cities, including Thousand Oaks and Simi Valley.

The chase entered Los Angeles County, where the California Highway Patrol took over the lead.

The suspect’s vehicle reached speeds over 100 mph at points during the pursuit.

The chase moved onto surface streets before returning to the freeway system.

Shortly after 11 a.m., the vehicle struck the back of a moving dump truck on the eastbound 210 Freeway in the La Crescenta area.

The mangled car came to a stop in the middle of the freeway lanes. Responding officers approached the wreckage, and firefighter-paramedics were called to the scene.

The identity of the deceased driver was not immediately released.

The deadly crash remains under investigation.
