The LA County Fair opens Friday at the Fairplex grounds. The annual event runs through Memorial Day, May 26, operating Thursdays through Sundays, plus the final Monday.
This year's theme is āArt Unleashed.ā The fair aims to feature creative arts across its exhibits and attractions, including partnerships with several Los Angeles-based arts organizations. The Flowers and Gardens building includes murals and displays focusing on this theme. Exhibit director Robert Ramirez commented on the buildingās art, calling its theme āwhimsical steampunkā depicting āthe creative machine of art.ā
Fair hours are 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. on opening night, May 2. On all other operating dates, hours are 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
The Grandstand facility is closed for renovations this year, moving concerts and other events to a location called The Fields. This area has seating for 6,500 people. Information on the concert lineup can be found here.
Musical acts scheduled to perform include War, Shaggy, Cheap Trick, Chris Janson, and Los Ćngeles Azules. Concert tickets include fair admission but must be purchased separately.
Discounted admission tickets are available for specific groups and dates. Cal Poly Pomona Day is scheduled for Saturday, May 3, offering a special ticket price. Other ticket options are available for early fair dates.
Attractions include animal exhibitions, thrill rides like The Raptor and Aviator, and traditional fair experiences. The Huntley College of Agriculture will showcase its livestock in the Big Red Barn petting zoo area.
