The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) plans to award an estimated 1,280 degrees during spring 2025 commencement ceremonies Monday, May 5. The events will take place at the Von Braun Center (VBC) Propst Arena.

The university will conduct two ceremonies for graduates. The first begins at 10 a.m. and includes graduates from the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, the College of Engineering, and the College of Nursing.

A second ceremony is scheduled for 2 p.m. Graduates from the College of Business, the College of Education, and the College of Science will receive their diplomas at this event.

Approximately 1,006 bachelor’s degrees, 250 master’s degrees, and 24 doctorates comprise the estimated 1,280 degrees to be conferred. The doctorates include 16 Ph.D. degrees and eight Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degrees.

Graduates can find more information regarding the ceremonies, including livestream options, VBC directions, parking, security policy, and decorum rules, on the UAH commencement website.

Among those earning a degree is Daniel Navarro, who receives a bachelor’s degree in economics from the College of Business. Navarro is also receiving his commission as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army days before commencement.

Navarro, a cadet in the Army ROTC program, said his family, faith, and military service have supported his goals. He arrived in Huntsville at age 14 and attended local schools before enrolling at UAH.

He plans to join the Air Defense Artillery Branch and will move to Fort Sill, Oklahoma, for basic officer leadership training. His story is detailed in a UAH news article.

“In the life of a university, there are definitely seasons,” said Dr. Rhonda Gaede, associate provost for undergraduate education. “Commencement is a day to take a pause, take a breath, look around, and celebrate.”
