A 65-year-old woman from Brainerd was discovered deceased Sunday following the report of a grass fire in Crow Wing County. Deputies were called to the scene around noon.
Authorities responded Sunday afternoon to a report categorized internally as a Fire Near Me incident, involving a grass fire near a residence on the 6400 block of Wetherbee Road in Crow Wing Township, south of Brainerd. The report indicated a victim was possibly deceased at the location.
Upon arriving at the rural property, Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office deputies located the homeowner dead near a lawnmower. The woman's identity is being withheld pending notification of her family.
Fire crews from the Brainerd Fire Department and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources responded to the scene and extinguished the fire. Officials confirmed no structures were damaged by the blaze.
