Police here provided additional information Friday regarding the death of an 18-year-old found shot outside a fast-food restaurant last month.
Clovis Police Chief Curt Fleming addressed reporters Friday morning, detailing the ongoing investigation into the April 23 incident that killed Caleb Quick.
The shooting occurred just before 9 p.m. that Wednesday in the parking lot of a McDonald's located near Willow and Nees avenues.
Caleb Quick was reportedly meeting friends when he was shot. He sustained at least one gunshot wound and died after being transported to a local hospital.
News outlets including ABC30 attended a press conference Friday where Clovis Police Chief Curt Fleming provided additional information.
Police described the suspected gunman as wearing all black clothing, including a black hoodie covering their head. The suspect left the scene on foot carrying a handgun.
The suspect remains at large as of Friday. Clovis Police Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators continue their work on the case.
Caleb Quick was a senior attending Clovis Online School and had previously attended Buchanan High School, according to a statement from Clovis Unified School District Superintendent Corrine Folmer, Ed.D.
Authorities have asked anyone with information to contact the Clovis Police Department at 559-324-2800 or Valley Crimestoppers at 559-498-STOP. Local reports like this one reported the shooting occurred at 8:57 p.m. Police announced Friday a press conference would be held. Local coverage noted police planned a news conference for 10 a.m. Friday.
"Caleb was a wonderful young man," Corrine Folmer said. "Our hearts go out to his family and friends."
