Police were called to Randolph Middle School on Monday afternoon following a report of inappropriate parent behavior on campus. The incident led to a brief lockdown at the school.
Multiple officers responded to the southeast Charlotte middle school around noon. An ambulance was also seen at the scene.
The lockdown was brief, according to school officials. Classes resumed shortly thereafter.
Dismissal at the school took place at the normal time.
Police responded to a middle school in Charlotte, where several police vehicles were observed.
Families received a message informing them the school had been placed on lockdown for the safety of students and staff. The message stated that the district's safety procedures were activated and no one would be allowed on or off campus during the lockdown.
CMS confirmed the brief lockdown was due to "inappropriate parent behavior."
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools have not provided specific details regarding the parent behavior that prompted the response and lockdown.
Randolph Middle Principal Schroeder addressed families in a statement after the incident.
"Earlier today our school was placed on lockdown due to inappropriate parent behavior," Principal Schroeder said. "The lockdown was brief; there was police presence on campus to ensure the safety of students and staff. The lockdown has been lifted and all teaching and learning has continued as normal."
