The second season of the murder mystery series Poker Face is set to premiere on Peacock May 8, 2025. The show stars Natasha Lyonne as Charlie Cale, a woman with an innate ability to detect lies.
The series follows Cale as she travels across the country, encountering unique characters and solving seemingly isolated murders. The show employs a "howcatchem" format, revealing the killer at the beginning of each episode, similar to the classic television detective series Columbo.
Poker Face Season 2 is expected to feature a wide array of guest stars. Actors scheduled to appear include Cynthia Erivo, Giancarlo Esposito, Steve Buscemi, and John Cho. Other names appearing this season are Rhea Perlman and John Mulaney.
The second season premiere episode, titled "The Game Is a Foot," will feature Cynthia Erivo in multiple roles, playing quintuplets involved in a complex inheritance dispute. Lyonne's character encounters the siblings while on the road.
Series creator Rian Johnson, known for his work on mystery films like Knives Out, directed the season's opening episode. Johnson has discussed his admiration for the episodic mystery format.
The show blends its mystery structure with a lighthearted tone and distinctive characters, often featuring Cale working temporary jobs while on the run from organized crime figures.
Other guest actors slated to appear throughout the season include Alia Shawkat, Awkwafina, B.J. Novak, Carol Kane, Corey Hawkins, David Krumholtz, Ego Nwodim, Gaby Hoffmann, Jason Ritter, Justin Theroux, Kathrine Narducci, Katie Holmes, Kevin Corrigan, Kumail Nanjiani, Margo Martindale, Melanie Lynskey, Patti Harrison, Sam Richardson, Sherry Cola, and Simon Rex.
According to Johnson regarding working with Erivo on the premiere, "It was kind of the essence of why I wanted to do the show in the first place, and it was a really, really beautiful experience."
