Crews for The Amazing Race Canada competition recently filmed segments in Prince George, British Columbia. The reality program visited multiple sites around the city last week.
Filming activity was observed near the Mr. PG statue at the intersection of highways 16 and 97. The production also utilized locations on the campus of the University of Northern BC.
Prince George Coun. Cori Ramsay mentioned the filming during a city council meeting on Monday, May 5, confirming reports of the show's presence.
Andy Beasley, the city's director of civic facilities, stated that additional municipal properties were used during the filming. He did not provide further details regarding specific locations.
The Canadian series takes inspiration from the American program The Amazing Race, which has received Emmy Awards. It features teams of two people competing in a race across various locations.
Contestants receive clues, navigate unfamiliar areas, interact with locals, and complete physical and mental challenges. Teams use different forms of transportation, including planes, boats, taxis, and bicycles, to reach designated points.
Most legs of the race conclude at a Pit Stop, where the last team to arrive faces elimination from the competition. The final destination is the Finish Line; the first team to reach it earns a $250,000 grand prize.
The show airs on CTV and is hosted by Olympic gold medalist Jon Montgomery.
While the specific air date for the Prince George episodes remains unannounced, this production provides a glimpse into the type of locations featured in the broader competition that could potentially include stops for Amazing Race 2025.
