The comedic drama Twinless, featuring Dylan O’Brien and James Sweeney, is set for release on September 5 after its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival. The film secured distribution from Roadside Attractions and Lionsgate for the United States market following its festival run.
The story follows two men who connect while attending a support group for people who have lost a twin sibling.
James Sweeney wrote, directed, and produced the project. Dylan O’Brien is also credited as an executive producer, alongside Mikey Lee, Ali Jazayeri, David Gendron, and Liz Destro. Alex Astrachan is listed as a co-producer through Permut Presentations.
The cast includes Aisling Franciosi, Lauren Graham, Tasha Smith, Chris Perfetti, François Arnaud, Susan Park, and Cree Cicchino.
Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions will manage the film’s international distribution. The September release date positions the movie for a fall theatrical run.
At the Sundance Film Festival, the film won the Audience Award: U.S. Dramatic. Dylan O’Brien received the US Dramatic Special Jury Award for Acting for his portrayal of dual roles in the film.
The movie currently holds a 95 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes and an average score of 8.3/10 on IMDB based on initial reviews.
O’Brien has another film scheduled for release soon; Ponyboi is set to debut on June 27.
