Yard House, a national sports bar chain, has permanently closed its restaurant in Norwalk, Connecticut. The closure, effective Tuesday, May 6, leaves the state without a Yard House location.

Crews worked outside the SoNo Collection mall location removing signs from the building on Tuesday afternoon.

A spokesperson for Yard House confirmed the closing in an emailed statement. The spokesperson described the decision as a "difficult business decision" made "carefully and thoughtfully."

The company is offering all workers from the Norwalk location the opportunity to relocate to other Yard House restaurants. Nearby locations include Yonkers and West Nyack, New York.

An answering machine message for the Norwalk restaurant also confirmed the permanent closure and directed customers to New York locations. A note posted on the restaurant's door directed patrons to a sister location, The Capital Grille steakhouse in Stamford.

The Yard House Norwalk restaurant originally opened in April 2021. It was the chain's 83rd location nationwide at the time.

The 12,000-square-foot restaurant inside the mall was visible from a nearby main road. Its menu featured a variety of dishes, including burgers, pizzas, tacos, and steaks, alongside a large beer selection. The drink menu included beers from Connecticut breweries.

The SoNo Collection mall continues to house several other dining establishments. These include Jacob's Pickles, Chiwa Bistro, and Pinstripes. Sally's Apizza is also scheduled to open a new location at the mall in the coming months.

The spokesperson added, "particularly because it impacts our team members and guests."
