Digital media company Valnet has acquired the gaming news website Polygon, reportedly resulting in mass layoffs among the site's staff.
Multiple employees of the Vox Media-owned publication have announced their departure on social media platforms following the sale.
Polygon's former editor-in-chief Chris Plante stated he is no longer affiliated with the outlet, which was established in 2012. Plante encouraged those hiring to consider the many talented writers and editors now seeking employment.
Former Polygon writer Michael McWhertor also confirmed being affected by the changes. Part-time writer Ian Walker indicated he would no longer work for the brand.
Former senior reporter Nicole Carpenter reported losing her job and stated she is seeking work, as are many of her colleagues.
Matthew Reynolds, who served as deputy editor, confirmed he is also leaving Polygon. He expressed pride in the team's accomplishments and stated it had been a privilege to work alongside them. bsky:(Source)
